The Green Smoothie You Need

This green smoothie recipe I've been making for years is an excellent way to nourish your body and get many of the vitamins and minerals your it needs for proper digestion, energy, immunity, and overall good health. The smoothie is packed with leafy greens and nutritious fruits which are full of fiber and antioxidants that help promote healthy skin, hair, and nails. Additionally, it's very hydrating for the body because of the high water content plus fruits and vegetables that provide electrolytes and minerals. The combination of water and electrolytes helps the body to absorb and retain the fluid, which helps to keep the body hydrated.

BENEFITS:

  • increased energy

  • increased mood

  • clear skin

  • improved digestion and digestive/gut issues

  • improves fertility

  • improve hormonal health

  • reduced cravings

  • promotes healthy body weight

  • shiny strong hair

  • better mental focus

  • boosted immunity

  • detoxes the body

  • supports the liver

Another important benefit of this green smoothie is that it is very alkalizing to the body. The body's pH balance needs to be in an alkaline state to function optimally and achieve good overall health. When the body is in an acidic pH (the opposite of alkaline) it creates an environment for disease and illness.

To reap the benefits of the smoothie, it is important to drink it on an empty stomach, preferably in the morning before you have your first meal. This allows your body to digest it properly and fully absorb the nutrients. Avoid drinking it with or after a meal as you won’t get the proper benefits. Having this smoothie first before eating anything else also helps to set healthy eating habits for the day as the high mineral content helps to really curb cravings. It is best not to modify or leave out any ingredients as this smoothie is specifically tailored to achieve certain health benefits.

Ingredients:
(It is highly recommended to use all organic ingredients. The leafy greens must be organic)

  • 1 cup organic leafy greens (kale, spinach, beet greens, etc.)

  • 2 apples, washed, cored and chopped

  • 1 banana, peeled and chopped

  • juice from half a lemon

  • optional: 1/4 cup chopped pineapple

  • 1/2 cup filtered water (add small amounts at a time to the blender if needed)

Instructions:

  1. Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend on high until smooth.

  2. Enjoy your smoothie!

You can adjust the ingredient amounts to your liking - the recipe above is just a general guide.

You can pre-make this smoothie the night before but it is best to make it fresh to drink!
